i’ll be happy when the lilacs bloom again

It’s a lovely spring morning here in NYC – made better by the discovery of my favorite patch of flora in wild, fragrant bloom. To celebrate, I’m having my first ever giveaway:  a memorable meal (ok, a free lunch avec moi) to the first person who can guess the obscure musical theater reference in today’s headline.

at long last, spring

Nothing quite heralds the beginning of spring like the fragrant arrival of the first crimson-edged peonies at my corner flower stand. Finally; winter be gone.

springing forward

Walking through Central Park this morning amid all the destruction wrought by the weekend of torrential rain and wind, I chanced upon this resilient little patch of  Lily of the Valley.  Can spring be far behind?
